It has been a stressful and intresting day to say the least. I am eating dinner and impatiently waiting for my
BRB to arrive Tuesday morning and I get a call from my sister. She says that my brother in laws brother has been kicked out of where he was living, which happens to be a freind of my brother in law. Anyways he said he was suppost to come back for his turtles and other stuff and that was over a week ago. So my brother in laws freind, the one that owns the house he was staying at, wants the turtles gone because they smell really bad. He put their tank in the backyard and was thinking about letting them go. Thankfully they contacted me first and I told them do not let them go intill I make sure they are native to here. I go up their and he was not joking about the smell, as soon as I took the blanket off that was covering the cage, I almost puked. The water was so dirty that you couldnt even see if their was turtles in their. I brave the nasty water and pull 3 turtles out, 2 were painted turtles which are native and common here, their was a nice pond not far from his house so I decided to release them their. The third turtle however I am not sure what species it is. My first thought was soft shelled turtle because it has a head just like a soft shell turtle but its shell isnt like that of a soft shell. I am not big into turtles but I think it may be an african side necked turtle but not sure. I have seen the african side necks in petco and it looks like that but not sure. So I am keeping this one because im not sure what it is and if its even native to here. The poor thing already looks so much happier, I will get pics as soon as I can.
