Updated Update
Elizabeth got out of surgery around 11 pm tonight. The main tumor was much worse than they originally thought... and had invaded her bronchial tube, arteries, and pericardium. (not sure if I'm spelling all this right!) The surgeon ended up having to remove her entire right lung, and pericardium. There was no damage to her heart.
I just visited with her in the ICU, and she is doing fairly well. As expected, she is in a good deal of pain, but they are doing all they can to help her with that. They expect to be able to move her to a step-down unit tomorrow.
