BRBs are wonderful. But, and BIG but, they take time too! So think long and hard before you get one. Visit Rainbows-R-Us Reptiles, they have great care sheets on keeping BRBs for babies to adults. IMHO BRBs take more work than a
BCI or
BP. For one thing they are not as "tame" if you don't take the time to work with them. That said one of my best snakes is a 6 foot
BRB male. The other big mistake that people make is habitat requirements. BRBs require high humidity especially they babies, and I know several people that have lost babies because they tried to keep them like a
BCI. High humidity also can cause other difficulties like mold, so cleaning often is a must. I have had a monitor and own three BRBs and I would say that they BRBs take just as much time as the monitor did. So listen to your mother. But really think twice about getting a
BRB too. Not that they are not amazing snakes and worth the extra time, but if you are tight on time right now may not be the best time to get one.
