Rocco's Modern Life *New addition*
As some of you may remember, I mentioned I was looking into adopting an adult male Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) named Rubin.
Rubin's needs are not something I can meet. He had no socialization. Since I have kids; I need a dog that is either socialized, or is at a size that is manageable WHILE I socialize him.
Having a large dog with little ones and no control over it, is just asking for problems.
I was pretty bummed about things not working out with Rubin.
I had gone to PetCo, Sunday, and saw a pen full of puppies out front.
Of course I had my kids with me, so I HAD to stop and look at them, and I'll be darned if I didn't see this little head buried under a Rat Terrier and a Lab X pup..I knew right then and there this was meant to be our dog..
Meet our newest Roles Family member and part of the Hillbilly Mafia The "muscle": ROCCO...
Rocco is a Red Heeler, and I've chosen not to dock his tail, so it's intact.
He was born in June, so he's still just a pup and sleeps ALL the time.
I carried him around all day today..All my friends are placing odds on whether or not he'll still expect me to carry him around when he's 50+lbs..and nothing but eyes and teeth..lol
Heelers are pretty impressive, intelligent and protective dogs. Should make a great addition to our family.

lmao..no doubt! I learned that pretty quick! Although Roc seems to think that feet without shoes make great chew toys :crying: I forgot just HOW sharp puppy teeth are..lol
I'm just loving him, it's been so long since I had a puppy, I'd forgotten just how much they get into EVERYTHING.
We've also been working on the housebreaking thing..:ahhhhh:

Thanks guys He has a nice doggie hambone to chew on, and I got some meaty rawhide treats. He annihilates one in just a few short minutes..lol
He's such a big baby too, I take him everywhere with me, and I've had to CARRY him everywhere..lol
I want him to be protective of us when he gets older, so far he's just about as threatening and intimidating as a butterfly..lol

He has heeler in him there is no need to make him protective of your family because it will come naturally.
I would socialize the poo out of him so he is not to protective. That breed and mixes of that breed are very family protective by nature and if you try and make him protective you will have a little monster on your hands. I know from tons of experience.
He is a beautiful pup and congratulations on your new family member.
