My friend bought the emerald as a CBB animal. Low and Behold a wildcaught animal arrives. I took care of it for a month or 2, It ate one frozen thawed rat, and then stopped. He started to deteriorate rapidly, and started loosing weight. My friend did not feel comforatable caring for this animal, so he gave it to me, because I was up for it. So I handed it over to my friend who has cared for a wild caught emerald that was considered a DOA six years ago, and it is huge healthy and happy now. So he has been caring for it. About a month ago we got it to eat a live dwarf hampster. It ate one since. on top of that he shed the other day too. so that is a good sign

UPDATE

Today my friend brought him into our store, He feels the animal is doing alot better. So I weighed the snake to find out how much flagyl I need. Hes about 4 feet and only 275 grams. So I got him weighed, and sent the info in. I will be getting flagyl probably within the week. After that I put him back in his bin. The whole time he was behaving like a WC Emerald should. He was very alert, and watched every movement. After a couple hours, I decided I would Offer him a F/T rat. after about 2 mins of making the rat dance. To my surprise, HE TOOK IT. Struck constricted and ate. He FINALLY took something that A) wasnt Live and B) wasnt a hampster. I am hoping the flagyl will help him in his recovery. I really like this snake, and am willing to spend what I need to get him healthy so he can live happily.

heres a pic, as you can see he is still very skinny. But he looks about 150 times better than what he looked like 3 weeks ago

THANKS

I really want to thank everyone who helped me with advice

CraigC, I honestly believe that this snake would not be alive to day if it werent for your advice. If he makes it or not, I want to thank you. I am obviously doing all I can to help him. But about 90% of what im doing, is advice that you gave me. Thnx again

The Tree Boa Forum, CraigC recommended me to this forum and it helped me alot too.

and of course all the members here who either helped, or at least said "your doing good owen"

enough mushyness haha thnx everyone

enjoy the update

Owen,
I think you are on the right track, but I will hold my opinion until you surpass the 18 month mark. That has been my experience with WC emeralds. If they make it beyond that point, I consider that success. Good luck, you are doing a great job , but if things take a turn for the worse, don't get discouraged! That is the nature of dealing with WCs.
