And growing up, my parents/siblings always thought I was weird because I would pick them up and put them outside. Pfffsssst.

This irrational fear is no different than the irrational fear of snakes so many people have that you think are idiots for being scared of a cute little wiggly ringneck snake
|
people always compare snakes and bugs. there is no comparison. spiders are hairy and have legs:scared:
the other night at work it happened again...a big green bug came in denny's and ricky was yelling at alex 'dont kill it, put it in something and put it outside.' alex is like i am not touching that thing unless it is to kill it. i am already shaking in the corner and i have goosebumps cause it is a typical huge georgia bug.
alex and ricky both stop and look at me and say 'louise take it outside' i am like 'are you guys crazy! the bug is florescent green and 2 inches long!'
in stereo they both start talking about how i love snakes and i am not scared of them and why am i scared of a bug. it gets sooo annoying. finally ricky scooped it up in the dust pan and put it outside. i smoked out back the rest of the night. i would rather take my chances with the homeless guys out back then with that neon bug. this is what it looked like.
does anybody see a resemblance to a snake?

Actually, it probably looked more like this...
It's a June Bug. woopie...I used to get all excited when I was a kid to find them and play with them. They were more fun than fire flies. Are you afraid of fireflies too?

Hooboy, spiders give me the heebyjeebies, but I just can't smoosh them. I can't really put them outside either, but usually I can get my fiance to escort them to the garage or yard. If I'm alone and there's a spider situation, I usually leave the room for a while and it'll be hidden and gone by the time I get back. Which is fine. I accept the fact that they're around, and I totally appreciate all the bug-eating, but they still give me the creeps, lol!
My "little" brother is a BIG guy. 6 feet and nearly 300 pounds. Big wrestler, football player, general hooligan, but you set a spider in front of him and he's the same as you, Louise, shaking, dizzy, freaking out. My dad and all our uncles took him on a big celebratory roughing-it fishing trip, and there was a spider in the cabin, so he spent the night in the bathtub with the lights on. Pretty funny when you think about it.

We used to play with them as kids, to JS, we'd tie a string to their legs, and they would fly around your head like an airplane! (kids can be cruel, huh?)
