Out of all of my Bearded Dragons.........I have one male that is a bit nuts.......he is like wild if he goes out of his cage.
In order to clean...........I put him in a snake bag..........otherwise he goes crazy wild.
Your boy looses his sense of security outside..........imagine it from his point of view.
Start small..........and work your way up to going out.
As for being normal.............it is over-rated..............
my beardie got mad once cause i woke him up, he bit the side of my finger clean off, shredded it like it was a meat grinder they have wicked teeth. thats one creature that you do not want to get by they can do some damage.
