Man this thread is a great read........ I have limited experience with
bcc's. I had a few N brazilian
bcc's back in the 90's , when
WC was pretty much the only option. THose guys were really hard to get feeding. I lost 1 to regurge, and the others never really thrived. If I compare that experience to my 3
CB surinams I have now it's like night and day. All 3 of these were purchased as babies from reputable
bcc breeders. they have acclimated well, and never have regurge or feeding problems. they aren't flighty. I think what it boils down to is stress.
Other species have had the same problems when captive breeding was in it's infancy. I have to say, the
bcc community really seems to have a real interest in maintaining genetic integrity. It's really nice to see everyone practicing careful selective breeding. In this messy era of morphs and hybrids ya'll stay true to the breed. Hat's off to ya'll
