They are subspecies of boa constrictor.
BCC= Boa constrictor constrictor.
These are commonly known as true red tails. They tend to keep thier crispness of pattern and redness of tail into adulthood. They include localities like Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad, Brizilian, Peruvian, etc....
BCI= Boa constictor imperator.
They are considered the "common" boa constrictor. Most commonly carried in pet shops. They tend to loose some of the redness of tail with age and are sometimes just called "columbian red tails" as a matter of habbit. They include localities like Columbian, Hog Island, Mexican, Nicaraguan etc...
Hope that helps.

What were you told it was when you bought it?
Perhaps post a couple of pix to show it to us. I am sure many here can tell species even if not locale.

bcc are much more expensive and not normally sold in pet stores.
most likely without seeing any pics, you have a bci.
post some pics, tell us the history, we'll try to help.
