We went to look at a GORGEOUS female
BCC today and ended up coming home with another
BCI and (for some reason) a Dumeril's!
We've been searching for a potential mate for Romulox:
But hadn't seen anything that really looked like a good match for him. I saw an add for a female Guyana that looked PERFECT. We went out to see her today (which took several hours and a ferry ride) and she turned out to be even more gorgeous in person. I've never seen a snake that glows like this one! She's positively shiny! SOOOOO docile, you can even grab her head.
Look at those cheeks!
That backyard:
Those purple sides!
Pthbbthhht!
I took one look at the male
BCI that was being housed with her (they won't be housed together here, of course) and fell instantly in love. I don't think I've had an instant connection like that in the last year or two. Joey says we ran (well, the
BCI slithered) at each other in slow motion like a cheesy love-scene in a bad romance movie. :glare:
I'm calling him Hank, and he's the friendliest, and BIGGEST boa I've ever personally interacted with.
We measured him as best we could, and he's between 9 and 10 feet. I'm betting closer to 9, but it was hard to get an accurate number.
I couldn't stop playing with his head! He nuzzles his nose right into your palm. Or your neck if you won't hold his head.

Look at the size of that head! It's like sputnik!
Big dopey nose:
Poor guy even has a clubbed tail! He was rescued from a bad situation several years ago where he was in a glass tank with one lightbulb and no substrate. Fed live rats to boot. :glare: The gentleman we got him from had taken him to the vet when he first got him and his tail was bitten and caked with old shed, so they amputated part of it. The joke is that the stubby tail is all that's keeping him from the ten foot mark.
And Dewey the Dumeril's. It was like "Well, we're taking the other two and have the space... never had a Dumeril's before..."
He's a little over a year old. Really cute little guy! Nice as pie. Just seems so different to me, because all we've had boa-wise are redtails and rainbows. It's kinda neat to have something different.
I still kinda feel like we were stealing since we got all three of them, 3 big huge radiant heat panels, and a boxful of really nice quality frozen rats and mice for $300. *dies*
