Thing is, Surinames, etc are much more expensive than BCI's. I can't imagine any retailer selling a BCC without specifiying it as such, because BCC's cost a lot more than BCI's.

Looks like a well marked BCI to me. With all of the interbreeding of BCI over recent years, saddle counts are a bit misleading.

I'm with Dank, he definitely looks like a very pretty BCI. There could be some BCC in the lineage, a lot of crosses between BCI and BCC come out with a bit of a redder tail like that, but I have two baby BCIs at the moment whose tails are the exact redness. Really pretty little snake, good find!

thankyou very much guys...when i first read up on boa's i assumed it was a bci cause the site i read agreed with what u are saying...MOST petshops sell BCI...but i had a guy on another forum tell me after seeing many pics of the snake that it was surely BCC due to the saddle count and appeance....at this point...i myself believe it is BCI...and im hopin it will turn out to be a female it is now 7 weeks old...how much longer u think it will be before i can determine the sex of the lil bugger??

There's no good way to determine male or female without probing. You'll need a breeder or a vet to do it.

"According to "The Boa Constrictor Manual" written by Phillippe deVosjoli and published by Advanced Vivarium Systems, saddles counts are the only truly accurate way to determine visually BCI from BCC."
this is what i have been told on another forum....any opinions??
might i add...the person saying this by no means claims to be an expert....just a fellow boa owner that is tryin to give me incite on what i am gonna be dealing with when this snake is full grown.. | |
