What is it like to handle a boa?

I've kept ball pythons and some colubrids but I've been thinking of getting a larger snake, but not a giant one. Boas sound really cool but I'm wondering what the experience of handling is like.

I tend to enjoy handling ball pythons a lot more than corn snakes, hognose snakes etc. They seem really gentle, curious, relaxed, and they have a very strong grip and can hang on well. They don't require much babysitting and don't really try to escape like other snakes. I also like to let my ball python crawl up my shirt (sounds weird, I know) and it gives a pretty good massage lol.

Are boas sort of like that? I don't have access to one in person so ordering one online is my only option. I really like how they look but I'm not sure how gentle and relaxed they can be.

IMO, Boas are more active than ball pythons. At least at our house...

I always feel like the boas are more aware of their surroundings, also.

It's a completely different experience. In a good way.

Boas are definitely more active and more attentive. I can sit on the couch or lay in bed with my bp and just relax and watch TV with her. Its a very different story with my boa. I have to be very attentive to her and constantly move my hands to keep up with her.....well, actually, every once in a while she will curl up and sit still for a little while, but not long after she turns back into a little busy body lol.
.
In short, I enjoy them both. Many times, my energy level will determine who gets to come out and play. Its good having options!

I 've had many types of snakes for pets and the boa's are the best. The bcc's require a little more work to maintain their environment then the snakes you are used to. So, if you wan't a redtail, read up before you buy! Bci's are more tolerable to temp and humidity changes...might be a better choice for a first boa. Whatever kind of boa you get, you'll find handling them to be like handling your other snakes,..............Just Better!

My pet peeve just got stepped all on. There are a lot more to boas than just BCI and BCC. There are also BCL, BCA, BCS, couple of different BCO...How come they never get to count?

I've been saying that for years. Mostly in my head though.
