HELP! Howling Boa! ????
I woak up this morning to my 4.5ft male boa "howling". He had his head up, mouth open, and I guess the only way to describe it was howling. It was LOUD. It looked like he was going to regurge, but he was on an empty stomach. It first sounded like my cell phone was vibrating on a pile of spare change. Anyone ever heard of this/ had this happen? Anywone have an idea of what this could be a symptom of? Normal? Any help would be great. His tank conditions are optimal, and he's never been sick before.
Let's try to keep this one on topic if possible-- he's a breeder in a few months and I really need to know whats wrong, if anything.
Thanks in advance all.

Im a noob, only own a single boa but ive never heard anything close to that.
Was it like a loud push of breath, like he emptied his lungs all at once or something? Maybe it had something caught in its throat?

No, it hasnt happened since to the best of my knowledge. Only for a few mins this morning. It did almost sound like something was lodged, but anytime something is making a sound like that it could be anything.

This is the closest thing I could find really.
Rapid Shedding by adult Boa?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In march of this year I recieved a pair of 99er DH for Snow Boa's. They both fed great from the start but after about 45 days the larger female, who is about 5 foot plus now started refusing the F/T rats that she used take readily. During this time she started shedding very quickley, from 14 days to 18 days between sheds. I have been able to get her to eat shortly after she sheds, over the last 4 months she has eaten about 8 large rats.
Today my wife called me at work and told me that the DH Female was making an odd noise and when she looked in the cage her mouth was open and she appeared to be coughing or trying to regurge. I have never had a boa regurge so I am not sure. She made this noise about 5 times and stopped but was moving around the cage a lot more than normal.
She appears healthy in every other way, tounge flicking is rapid, mouth is pink, muscle tone good. Anybody experienced anything like this before? The male who has always fed great just refused a rat for the first time this weekend and again on Monday and he is not in shed.I am hoping this is not going to start with him now! Looking for ideas, anything would be appreciated.
Thanks, Craig T

Thanks to all.
Botis, that sounds abotu as accurate as anything I've found. I'm not really concerned for his health at this point, as it doesnt seem to be life threatening. I was just a little boggled because I hadnt heard/seen anythign like that before. It reminded me of the raptor call in the first Jurassic Park. Just plain weird.
