she just started...
my hog has just started dropping her babies.. so far, I only see one.. she is quite active and moving around the cage.. how long does the whole process take? how will I know when she is finished?

Congrats on the babies on the way! I don't know exactly how long it can take because all of the litters here happened in the middle of the night and I woke up to babies. It probably varies, like with people, maybe 1/2 hr to a few hours. Once she is done, the contractions will stop and she'll rest for a short bit and then start nudging the babies around and if she sees you, probably be very protective and grumpy. I usually remove mom after she's done (I watch for about 1/2 hr to make sure she's done) and mist the babies and let them be until they start all moving off on their own (an hour, 24 hours, etc). apparently.. she had the babies during the night. and just one had come up above the newspaper.. she had kind of made a little nest in the back of the cage..
she had a total of 9 with 1 slug..
