That's where these evolution-type theories come in. Most people have either a snake or spider phobia. And it seems totally irrational. Wouldn't it make sense that we were born with them, and that maybe it is something carried over from long ago?

See, I don't buy that. I think they're cool. It's all about conditioning you get as a child. I guess I never saw them as creepy, but even if I had, you know people can learn to like them. I hope that means spiders are not really just creepy by nature.

I think there's something primordially creepy about spiders. Many people feel that way about snakes.

I never had any "conditioning" as a child....books and learning was a large part of my upbringing so everything got read about and studied. Any preconceived animal dislikes came from personal opinion and reading about them. Spiders were one.

My first experience of spiders was Charlotte's Web (remember that from, like, first grade?). Based on that, you'd think I'd want to cuddle up with a bunch of them!

OK Star, does this guy look cuddly? I think so, but it might be misleading. So it is with spiders. They might look creepy, but they're really cute, fuzzy and cuddly; just like a baby bunny
