Sad but good...
My best friend (and old neighbor before I moved down here) has 3 boas.

One of the three he purchased as a neo. They other two he adopted several years ago.
.
The two adopted boas passed away yesterday morning. They were 21 years old. So they lived a pretty good life. The last 6 years were probably their best. When get got them, he spent a fortune on 2 6ft AP cages, heating etc. IMO, that's pretty nobile of him seeing as you could've easliy just spend $30 on 2 larger rubbermaid setups for them and called it good. He took great pride in those snakes.
.
It was pretty tough on him. Of course, naturally he wants another boa.
.
I got a call from him today and he told me he went down to Petco. Before I was able to chime in, he said that he went in there to look at the adoption board. Sure enough, he found a boa in need, and took him in.
.
This is the only pic I have of him right now sent via cellphone.

.
I have nothing but the utmost repsect for Jason. It's great to see people rescuing snakes. I'm very proud of him.
.
The snake itself, is 4 years old. About 4 feet from Jason's measurement. There are a few bite wounds on him. Nothing severe though. Jason says he's a little underweight, but looks great considering the boas last 4 years of care. The previous owner was feeding 1 adult mouse every 2-4 weeks.

Thats pretty freakin awesome he adopted all of his snakes! Sorry to hear of his loss though. I bet that was hard for him! :crying: I hope his new one has a long and happy life with him! I cant believe someone would feed a snake of that size so little !! Thats horrible! Thats one lucky snake now that Jason has him sounds like he will learn a whole new way to live ! I bet Jason has got him spoiled already!!

Stuff like this really gives me hope for reptile keepers. I tend to get very cynical and frustrated with the way things go in this lifestyle and it is great to read something like this. Thank you Brandon. Tell him I am sorry for his losses and congrats on saving a reptile.

Thanks. I just talked to Jason. So far everything is going well. Very active snake during the night. He's going to stick with the same prey size but feed a little more frequently. Once he's eating on a better "feeding schedule" and eating on a more regular basis, Jason is going to gradually increase the size.

Very cool that he is so commited to rescue! Great job!! Long story short snakes know when they are getting good care and you can see it in the enclosures and the smile of the owner below.
