Star rating on threads??
Where do the stars come from and who decides which threads are 5-star threads? Have always been curious about this. Does not seem to have to do with the number of pages or number of posts. They are certainly not rated by me (Star). So who rates them?

On the top of each thread, there is an option to "Rate this Thread".

Oooh. Can you rate your own thread?
Apparently, you can.

How many people have to rate it before it gets a 5-star rating?

It gives an average of all of the ratings recieved for that thread. If only one person votes and they vote 5 stars then that is what the thread rating is. If two people vote and one votes 4 stars and one votes 2 stars then the thread is rated 3 stars..etc........

Also for those who didn't know, you have the ability to not only "thank" people for thier posts but to actually add or subtract from thier reputation points by clicking on the icon that looks like a "balance scale" up on the top of that individual post. You can approve or dissapprove the information on that particular post and put a comment as to why.
For example, if someone were to give information on a subject that really helped you, or helped the community as a whole, you could "approve" that post. If they were to have posted information that could hurt the community or was slanderous to an individual you can show our dissapproval.
Please don't let it become a battle of personalities though. I have seen vengeful reputation battles in the past and they aren't pretty.
