California (Fires and Other Stuff)

I'm in Palm Springs right now.. about 120 miles from San Diego and the wildfires. As of yesterday, the smoke has been floating towards here over the mountains. Mountains that you could see clearly on Monday and Tuesday are now barely visible.. it's insane.

We've been watching the news and praying for everyone down there. We went and bought lots of blankets and sleeping bags, some canned food and some t-shirts and donated them to the red cross... it's the very least we can do. Keep southern CA in your thoughts and prayers... please.

The devastation and loss is incredible.. and it's all because of some sick **** with a lighter.

On a lighter note, I'm enjoying my vacation. The weather is great, aside from the smoke in the distance, and I've been swimming and out shopping every day. I made it in here (an internet cafe, haha) because of a work emergency.. so you wont hear from me again until after I get home on Monday.

aww man, that sucks you came during the fires.

the sky is so awfully ugly right now. Every direction is smoke and ash covering the sky. The sun and moon are hardly visible and the air quality is crap.

hope you had a great time here, anyways!

I feel really bad that I cannot afford to go volunteer at the shelters. I was certified in several different Am. Red Cross shelter and disaster relief programs after Katrina hit. Unfortunately, during California's largest evacuation, I have neither the time nor the money to volunteer!!! :( My thoughts and prayers will have to do this time.
