Who wants to build an enclosure?
Okay, so I was planning to buy 2 large boaphiles some time next year for my babies. Then it just occurred to me that for the same price or less, I may be able to have someone build me a custom enclosure. Is anybody game? I would cover your travel costs, put you up and pay for labor and materials. Total cost would need to be kept under $1000, which is what the boaphiles would cost. It would need to be a double unit because I have two snakes, approximately 6 feet long and minimum of 2 feet high per habitat. It also needs to look really good, but be able to be moved when I move. Any takers?
Does anyone have any opinions about whether it is better to have a custom enclosure to boaphiles? What would the snakes prefer? I don't have the space to give each one a giant custom enclosure sadly. Maybe some day.

Any reason you would choose Boaphiles over Animal Plastics?

One nice feature of boaphiles is that you can cover one of the doors so the the snake can have more privacy. I don't know if you can get as much privacy in a custom enclosure.

No reason. I'm just not as familiar with Animal Plastics. I did spend quite a bit of time talking to Jeff at Boaphiles and feel comfortable with him. I like the idea that they come in black or white, which would look nice in my living room. I'm not fond of that slate gray color.

I would give Mark at Animal Plastics a call. It was great dealing with them. (their cages come in black and white too.)

Anyway, I figure if I'm going to spend $1000, I may as well look into a nice custom one as well. But for that price, I'd want a pretty nice one that would look nice in my home and give the snakes more climbing room.
