Okay I know I am pretty weird - Where Responsible Reptile Keepers Connect!

I know I am pretty weird first of all I am a Mom of 5 Grandma of 2 with a couple of snakes I love. They were gifts to my son but I am way more into them than he is, going back to my teens when I had a yellow Rat and a Rainbow boa. I enjoy reading, writing about, and photographing them. Not to mention handling them, even the more ucky task of cleaning thier poo is not near as nasty as picking up my dogs poo. I even tolerate mice and rats in my freezer to feed them much to my husbands dismay. Anyway I was just doing the grandma thing of putting out my Christmas Village that I put out every year and trying to think how best to arrange it so I can get a good shot of my snakes crawling through it lol! SO am I over the top weird? Course maybe this isn't the best place to use my weird barameter. Anyway I read how you all love your snakes and even am upset about the person that has the sick snake I wish she would hurry up and let us know how it is. I am so happy that we have this great community to share information. I jumped into snake ownership back in the 70's when information wasn't so readily available and lost my rainbow boa due to my stupidity feeding to large a prey size live but in my defense I just didn't know and the pet stores didn't know and gave bad advice. SO this time around I am much more informed and ready for anything that comes up. Anyhow I am hoping to take those Christmas Village pictures sometime today once I get everything arranged and lit up lol! I will try and share them tonight. Have a great day!!

Your story sounds pretty familiar, esp. the part about your sons losing interest and you gaining it!!! Me too. And of course it is OK to put snakes in the manger. All creatures great and small, right?:laugh:

Good to get to know you. I am the oldest person on this site as far as I know and I have snakes (boas and pythons) iguanas and turtles plus three dogs and rodents. And two surly teenagers....and a crazy husband...and two grown married daughters with kids galore....!:scared:

Yeah! Glad I am not alone...I am almost an empty nester much to my dismay I just have my 13 year old son left at home all my girls have flown the coop! I might beat you on the age thing!

If you are trying to get me to tell everyone here how old I am.....let me see....I left high school at 17 in 1965. My father is 90 and my mother is 88. I hope this does not gross out you young people too much. Miserable interfering nagging old biddy, that's me.:cursing:

It is a really nice thing at our ages to have a place to go and be weird.. We or at least I have been an embarrassment to my hubby way to many times. Though my kids don't seem to share that opinion they just think I am cool. They always complained that thier friends came over to talk to me instead of them lol!
Anyway I do like it here I get much good information and love the fact that so many people are into reptiles and take such good care of them.
