First herp??
What's a good choice for my 8-yr old? I was going to get her another fish, but I'm now thinking maybe it's time for a tarantula or a corn snake. I want something rewarding, cool and easy to care for. I think the other kids at school will think she's really weird if she has a spider. I'll probably go for the snake.

Thats really cool! What does SHE want though? Did you ask her is it to be a surprise? What about a frog or a turtle? I cant disagree with a cornsnake though...lol! They are pretty cool

Thanks Christina. She's thinking it over. Of course I want to be part of the decision.

She loves them. Both of my girls do. She doesn't have any fish at the moment but she wants a betta.

Betta's are easy to care for but snakes are better! I think a corn would be great but it depends on what she wants??

Logan, 7, wanted an Arizona Mountain Kingsnake so that was his gift. Things are going well so far. Of course, he has a few kings and they do bite fingers in a feeding mode.

Can't go wrong with a corn or king as a starter snake.
