leo problem
So here's the deal.......my male leo is being really aggresive with my female leo. he does this thing where he he will puff up and wiggle his tail really fast and then he will just bite her really hard and won't let go! And it's not just one place, its everywhere! he will bite her head, belly, and its mostly her tail. i know that the males can be aggresive when trying to mate, but i thought they just bite around the head and neck. i've got them in seperate cages, so its OK for now, but I'd really like for them to be in the same cage if it can work out. Help?!

he is trying to mate with her...it is usually very aggressive, and to someone that hasnt seen it before, it can often be mistaken for fighting

Assuming they are a pair...You can't keep them together all the time. He will breed, stress (or both) her to death. I have seen and have had colonies with multiple females and one male work out before if there is a lot of space and plenty of hides but I always pulled the male out after they bred anyway when I kept them.

If they are a pair like said the male is likely trying to breed with the female and the female doesent want to.. Housing a pair together is not reccomended. The leos both need to be healthy, and most importantly the female needs to be of wieght and age to breed. I would seperate them..

Thanks for the info guys. I guess i'll have to keep them in seperate cages now.....im almost 100% sure that they are male and female because the female doesnt have those bulges and she doesnt have the V shaped pores. Weird.
