After the first couple of posts I saw coming back I was afraid to stick around. I enjoy this site and hope it continues to do well with less of the personal drama involved.

Sadly from what I've seen over the years on these boards, drama is the key to high traffic and post counts on most forums. It shouldn't be that way. It's awful but we all get sucked in at some point and any time you throw hundreds of people into one pot, there's going to be some conflict.
I really don't know which way I like better...It's always good to see a lot of fresh posts but when it's all jibber jabber goofyness...occasionally, good threads or threads with people needing help get lost in the shuffle. I hate to see that worse than I do slow traffic. So please...nothing wrong with having fun BSing but don't lose sight of why these forums are here...to help people help their animals.

Huh? That's certainly one of the reasons that "these forums are here" and certainly a noble reason, indeed!
But THE reason? I disagree.
Some like to visit for social chatter, reptile talk and to look at neat photos of reptiles that perhaps they haven't seen before, most of which can be educational. All of this is great, promotes the hobby and I wouldn't deem any reason less important than another.

I believe education should be the primary focus of these sites. There are few forums with real information, discussions and help, there are many forums that get silly and give out caresheets. I have been kicked of of one of those and will no longer waste my time at a forum where conversation and social groups out weigh logic and evidence.

I agree with Tom. I mean it's all in good fun to get a little sidetracked now and then. But when it gets to the point where it's all jibber-jabber and no actual reptile information is being distributed/shared/taught/learned etc, that's when it bugs me. There's a reason why instant messengers and telephones are out there. But like I said, when appropriate, it's all in good fun.
