Noice! I have a few guns myself that are hidden all over my place. I sometimes get excited thinking about someone breaking in my place.....much like you.

Lessee...two dogs, knives/edged weapons literally in every room of the house, 9" Cold Steel fixed blade under my pillow ( ), 12ga loaded next to the bed, Mosin in the closet (unloaded but ammo in box next to it)....yeah we're good. Only two entry points to my house, one through the snake room and the front door. Open either and you are going to either come face to face with a roomful of snakes or immediately attract the dog's attention (worse). That's on the first floor. The third floor is where I'm grabbing the shotgun and a few extra shells from next to the bed and coming down after you.

For the 45? I would say flashlight. Blinding potential that could also be mistaken for just a flashlight. Laser is just too obvious and if you can shoot at all it's not really worth the money. Only drawback with the light is the potential for tunnel vision.

It won't fit on the 91/30. Those metal butt plates are rough on the shoulder lol. I needed some relief from the kick. 7.62mm / bolt action...all that recoil goes straight freaking back. I haven't shot it yet with the muzzle brake but from what I've read, it takes off about 40%. If it takes away 10, I'll be happy. Honestly, I don't think either are very "pretty". Russia didn't make them to look at, they made them to win wars with and to last. They did pretty good on both accounts. Another factor was to make them simple and easy to mass produce to the point of absurdity. By being such a simple no nonsense design that didn't really change much (You can mix match most of the parts between most of the different models made over a span of what? 109 years? something like that) They made manufacturing them very efficient and training to use them probably took all of "Here's your rifle...go kill somebody"
It's a weird feeling for me to hold a weapon that's likely been used in at least one major war...maybe several and wonder how many lives it's taken. I wonder if some soldier snuggled up with it while sleeping in a cold muddy fox hole back when my dad was a kid...They have all sorts of little symbols knocked into them. Some in the stocks seem to be from soldiers. Anyway, there's a lot of old surplus guns from all parts of the world to be picked up pretty cheap. MOST of them, I wouldn't pull the trigger on for fear of it exploding. These old Mosins coming in, I've yet to see a bad bore or crown nor one that wasn't worthy other than I did see some photos of one online that was captured from a Viet Cong soldier during the Viet Nam war. It was pieced together and built on a Chinese stock. It was pretty rusty even back when they first captured it. It's not unusual for rust to occur in a dense tropical rain forest but...It looked pretty scary. It's such a simple rifle though...I bet a little swab up the barrel and a little lube in the bolt and it would probably still take a head off at 2-300 yards with no problem. That's what I like so much about them. Simple, accurate, reliable and indestructible...and just enough history and interesting variations to keep collecting and reading up on them worth while.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Why not? Course, pink mist from 1000 yds away is nice too....

Ok I'll agree to that...though '47 ammo is PLENTIFUL. RPGs are too hard to aim and ammo isn't common.

I like the tactical flashlight idea and here's why.
When Louise and Kat lived here, they were in and out at all hours so I was kind of used to being woke up to footsteps in the dark...but one night I got a little start....first the layout... This is a 4 BR house. 3 BRs upstairs and 1 downstairs. My room is on the lower level away from the rest. I like it down here because I have the den, my computers, snakes, private bath, laundry room and covered patio where I build hooks all conveniently clustered...right outside my door to my BR is hardwood steps going up to the kitchen at entry level. There's another living room (currently being used as a photography studio) and a diningroom (rat and bird room)...then another flight of steps up to the other 3 BRs and master bath....so that's the lay out.
Picture this...I went to bed at about 1 am. I crash pretty hard and at 4 am, the dogs suddenly bolt off the bed barking and growling but don't | |
