Louise told the cops I pointed a gun at her friend. I explained why and 2 out of 2 cops said if it had been them in that situation, Denny's would be needing a new dish washer.

sucks if you would have shot him brett, .some people are incapable of making logical decisions. for example not invading someones private area in the middle of the night. someone would have had to feel really bad if something happened to the kid cause they needed to watch a movie. luckily it was you and not me brett, i have a little girl, i would have shot first asked question's later, i wont take any chances with my little girl.

I wasn't trying to make this into bash louise time. I think the lunacy of what happened that night was a group effort but mostly I blame the guy sneaking down the steps. He knew I was in there asleep. He SHOULD have known that that's a really good way to draw fire. Would I have felt bad? I would have felt very bad and would have lived with a whole lot of "what ifs" for the rest of my life as would his parents and other family. It would have been bad for everybody even though I'm certain I wouldn't have had any charges filed against me or if I did, self defense wouldn't have been hard to prove... He was coming towards me, not a baby. As long as I knew I had the drop on him and the advantage of me knowing where he was and him not knowing I had him in my sights, I had the luxury of waiting. I really don't like the idea of shooting in the dark at someone especially in a roommate situation. Had he stepped into my bedroom doorway, there would have been no doubt that his intentions were bad and/or he was exploring unfamiliar places and was definitely where he shouldn't be uninvited. I was glad I didn't shoot and very angry to have been put in that situation.

And you give me a hard time for hollering “don’t shoot” when I come home after dark?

hehe well...Just don't sneak down the steps with a small pen light. I'm not trigger happy but some circumstances are just unreasonable. Using a key to get in when I know you are out and probably coming home at some point does not throw up many red flags.

OK - NP. I just throw on the overhead if I want to go downstairs. I don't care if you're sleeping.

I just got back from the range again. I went to go try out the M44 with the muzzle brake I just put on. I got the muzzle brake off ebay. It was cheap and screwed on with retaining screws and a clamp. I didn't want one welded on because I didn't want to do anything permanent to the rifle and it would have to come off if I ever wanted to flip the bayonet around for some reason. It worked great for about 15 shots. Hardly any kick at all...so little kick that I put it on a block to pin point the bullseye and adjust my rear sight a bit... I got lax and BAM, it started kicking again while I wasn't holding it snug and the top of the steel butt plate caught the edge of my collar bone lol...Didn't break or anything but ouch. The heat (couldn't hardly touch the barrel), pressure and the flames flying out the ports on the brake I guess were too much for the retaining screws. It blew them out and it fell off. I didn't notice till it started kicking like a mule again So anyway, my point is, if you buy one...don't bother with the cheap muzzle brakes off ebay...just deal with the kicking.
