Oh...your praying mantis was a mammal! I wasn't aware of that part. Silly me.

When these videos were shot (this one and the lizard training one) They were to prove learning, to idiots on forums, I did not think it was going to be break through science I should record every time. So since I had shot the video of both species and provided a ton of literature on operant conditioning, stimulative response training and classical conditioning I stopped pursuing this. I will leave it to the scientists with the grass hoppers and bees.
I am not trying to make scientific discoveries or get famous the only reasons the videos were shot is because of people like you who could care less about the bee experiments and other advances in learning.
Perhaps you could teach a snake to fetch using food and vibrations since their brains are intelligently designed better than insects right?

Only mammals can learn? Somebody better inform the birds, insects and reptiles.

You are the one that used baby tricks and dog tricks to support your bug trick theory...so since babies and dogs are mammals and you compared what they can learn, I assumed your mantis must be a mammal. Was I wrong?
Insects don't "learn" tricks. Everything is instinct. Heck...same with reptiles. Associating something with food and altering behavior slightly is not "learning", it's association. There's a difference. Teach one of your lizards to bring you your slippers and I'll be impressed.

But that is my issue. They do not prove learning at all. It is a natural instinct caught on film. It would be much more compelling if it were the long range "training" on film. Without that, it holds no credibility to support your claims.

That is my point, heck I used to call it associative learning until I found no one could grasp that, so I use a more common term stimulative response training.
So reptiles can not learn, what about birds? Do they make your cut?
Association is learning and to teach something to associate something with food or reward is training, it does not matter what it is.

I think all three of us have a parasite or two that is devouring our precious time :scared:

That is fine BW I can accept that, if I ever want to keep a mantis again I may get you a new video, until then I could always e-mail you every time a scientist conditions an insect to do something so you can look into it yourself.
