Tammy you are doing it again!
Will you never learn not to concern yourself with things that are way above your head?:confused1:
These Americans from the US are tired of you sticking your Jamaican nose into their political US discussions.
Remember, just because you happen to be a member of this site does not mean that you must butt into every thread.
The rest of what I have to say to you will be sent in a PM.

IMO he is just a figurehead. We could have the most gifted politician in the world in office and we would still be bashing him for any problems in our country. The point is that (the collective) we, whether you actually voted for the man or not is not important, elected him as president. Now we blame him for everything. Yes, he is incredibly, and amazingly stupid. But it would be very shortsighted to blame him for all of our problems. We could take some responsibility for ourselves.

I definitely agree with you that the president is just a figurehead, and at times a scapegoat. An illiterate, uneducated scapegoat, but a scapegoat nonetheless. But that is just the tip of the iceberg as far as government meddling and behind the scenes string pulling goes. I could go on for days about that.
Anyway, I'm not dissing the US. For all its flaws, I like being a United Statian, or "person who lives in america", or whatever the heck you want to call it. It's the government I have a problem with, and their "We need to stick our noses into absolutely everything" attitude. They're like an annoying neighbor who's always spying on you over the backyard fence. They've also earned us a unsavory reputation with the rest of the world. Unfortunately, most citizens of this country are more comfortable following the status quo (god forbid anything get in the way of their Ipods, or spending hundreds on that new game system) rather than sitting up, going "What the heck is going ON here?" and actually doing something to bring about change.

See, for a long time I had negative thoughts on the government. But lately I have been realizing that the government is simply controlled by corporate interests and has been for a VERY long time. Corporations have a legal responsibility to make the most amount of money that they can. This means doing whatever it takes. Controlling governments, tarnishing reputations, destroying the environment, you name it.
The government is what we make of it. Unfortunately the general public doesn't have a clue what is and has been going on for years, and is getting dramatically worse.
Blame the corporations, the wealthy. They ARE the government. Corporations run the world.

Old news but...shows how Cheney digs gold for Haliburton.
Genesis Cheney Oil
More recent news...today
High Fuel Costs Threaten Bankruptcy for Truckers - US News and World Report
But let's go back to the old stuff because that's where the roots are...
MARCH 00 - LEGALIZED BRIBERY
This last article is all telling to me. It plots the course of Bush's oil ties and support. Basically, the oil companies have him in their pockets and he OWES them big. Unfortunately, when political leaders owe someone, it's us that pays. Another motive I see here possibly for running arab oil up so high, it could and probably will make the failed oil business in the US worth bothering with and guess who's families are all wrapped up in Texas oil? Bush and Cheney have screwed us out of BILLIONS. They may be idiots, but they are rich idiots. I hope they rot in #$!#$!#$!#$!.

"The first purpose of a good government is to secure or protect these rights. Further, a good government is based on the consent of the governed -- the people -- who are the sole source of the government's authority. If their government persistently violates this theory of good government, then the people have the right to overthrow it."
Just a quote I found that I liked. ( Teaching the Declaration of Independence. ERIC Digest.)
I think that's all that I will say about it. I generally try to avoid political converstaions as my views are rarely the majority.

There are so many more players than just Bush and Cheney. Bush and Cheney are just pawns. It is their families like you said and other wealthy families that control and have been controlling this world. They have money and they want to keep it and make more. That's it.
