Mizbubba is right. This place has been way out of control lately. And if any thread was going to ignite the flames again, it would be this one. So keep it cool everyone, or the padlock will come out!

I sure would hate to think that because I attended that particular church I was guilty by association for every shortcoming the preacher had. Black churches often preach about overcoming oppression. That's not new. He would be hard pressed to find a church run by people of color where it didn't come up now and then. It's not like it was a Black Panther meeting. I've never seen any evidence that "Kill Whitey" was the topic of any sermon...so what do the republicans want? Would they have preferred if he was a card toting KKK member denouncing half his racial heritage? It's OK to fly rebel flags no matter who they offend to honor one heritage but if a half black man running for president has at some point honored his African heritage...he's racist? Please. I don't think McCain has a shot unless the Bushes want him in so bad they set up another cheat in Florida....may happen though but like Bush both times, it won't be American voters that put him there.

Brett,
There are so many things wrong with our political system, I'm glad we have a challenger to the status quo! The Klan started with a Georgia boy, Nathan Bedford Forrest, living in Tennesee, but he backed off in the 18th century when he realized that progress was inevitable. I have had to fight off my old mans predudice after years of hearing his verbal sputem. I respect mark's service, but I can not support the "war" he fought in, nor the present Illegal intrusion into Iraq. G.W. and Shooter deserve to be treated as war criminals. They are certainly not patriots.

It's hard to "win" a war with no clear cut objective or one that is reasonably obtainable. Fighting because you are attacked and ousting aggressors is a no brainer and victory comes when you can go back to every day life and the enemy is beaten back into submission. Vietnam nor Iraq ever attacked us. We went to both places to fight to impose our ideas on them. We clearly won every battle in both places but how do we "win" such a war? We can keep shooting till the last arab falls but it's not going to make any part of the middle east Americanized...if that's our goal. I thought we went there to oust Saddam. He's dead...so are his sons and most of his thugs...we overturned the government there and helped them set up a democracy. Done! It wasn't our business but we did it anyway. What else are we doing there? We are still getting stung long after the hornet's nest was knocked out of the tree aren't we? Maybe if we stop poking sticks at it....the busy little bees can get back to work rebuilding and leave us alone. Our presence there is not welcome. Even those that we "helped" suffered a LOT of casualties and hold us responsible. The more we meddle, the more the resentment grows...the fewer friends we have over there. Time to come home...that's what I think anyway. Will pulling out cause turmoil? Of course it will. So is staying there though so again, how can we win by staying there?

brett you and i both know there can never be a winner in this situation.
we have lost far to many lives and to many mothers and fathers go to bed wondering at night why their children are dead (on both sides).
we should have never been in Iraq in the first place, but bush had his own personal vengeance to get against Hussein, fine he is dead his sons are dead, bush won his vendetta now lets get our boys and girls home for Christ sakes.
the American economy can not continue to struggle like this for much longer, you can only throw so many rocks at a glass house before it breaks. i personally dont want to see mass choas, riots, and war here in our own states especially out of concern for my daughter. so is it time for change YES. is obama the best candidate NO in my honest opinion i know nothing of him and he sprung out over night, but what i do know is that Mccain will be nothing more than more of the same and More Bush tactics, and i do know that this country can not continue to survive on these cowboys and indians tactics.
so what choice does that leave you again its voting for the lesser of two evils or so you hope.

I thought we went there to get Osama for the 9/11 attack "dead or alive"?

The whole system is a mess... politics in general, another puppet leader to do more of the same. I still have hope for something to change, I guess that's what keeps me going, hope.

We may see it anyway. It's going to be a tough job to dig us out of the hole we are in regardless. All this talk about digging here for oil more..what they really need to dig up is FDR, revive him and ask him what to do about this mess
