babie is ok.

we are home from the hospital after Julianna's massive allergic reaction to unknown source.

i know amy caught part of this on the boa growing thread, so sorry i couldnt post pics of pandora tonight.

we went to the dog park(which is routine thing) and for some reason she had a massive allergic reaction to a unknown source. the doctors seem to think its plant related although she didnt brush or touch any although one of the couple of dogs that licked her feet could have gotten into something.

so know she gets 1.5mls of a steroid and benedryl every day for the next three days. its weird cause its never happened before but babys are so sensitive.
so i guess we are going to refrain from taking her to the park for the next month and then try again and see if unknown source is gone.

thanks for the concern.

dustin, andrea, and julianna.

Glad she's ok...I'd wait more than a month though. Allergic reactions are dangerous and often progressive. The next one could be worse. Did you guys check her good for bee stings?

How bizarre! I'm SO glad she's okay and she has vigilant parents to watch for abnormalities and things out of the norm! I bet money that you never find out what did it and she never has a problem like that again, though. Allergies are SO weird! Wish her the best for me.

yeah we looked all over for any kind of raised surface, abrasion, cut, scratch, pretty much anything you can think of and there was no source. just her foot, and her leg up to her knee was affected. the rash started in her foot, her foot started swelling and turned a dark shade of red, when we left the dog park, the redness started going away by the time we got to our house to drop the dog offf, but then by time we got to the hospital the redness was gone and then there was all these little purple rashes up her leg and on her foot.

weirdest thing i have ever seen.

but she never eve got fussy, or acted like it was painful which is weirder.

Whew!

I'm glad she's ok, and nothing major was involved. I'm sure you guys were worried!

I would echo what Brett said. Normally allergic reactions are progressively worse with each occurance. Elizabeth had a bad allergic reaction to Ceclor (anitibiotic) when she was @ 8 months old... Just a few weeks ago, some schmuck at the hospital didn't read her chart and gave it to her again: she ended up with huge hives all over her head, redness, swelling, and loss of coherent thought for 24 hours! It was sooo much worse this time, even after so much time had passed.

If you're going to take her to the dog park, it might be better if the dogs didn't touch her... even if it's not a plant thing, she could be allergic to the dogs themselves. My .02, (not meant to be condescending, or preachy.)

nope i hear you, i didnt want the dogs rubbing on her anyways, but andrea wasn't paying attention for two seconds and a pitbull licked her foot.

i think it had something to do with that as the rash showed up shortly after that.

but for now im just going to take the dog to the park by myself.
