I too believe stress is the number one factor in reptile problems. This is another reason I try to mimic their natural habitat the best I can. Having a salvator that vomited at the site of a human, or when a door opened was enough to know I needed to change my husbandry and figure out how to help her relax.

As far as stress is defined medicinally:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stress_%28biological%29
http://www.answers.com/topic/stress?cat=health
Stress Symptoms, Causes, Signs, Types, Management and Treatment on MedicineNet.com

I am pretty sure that definition is across the board. How different species deal with stress is going to relate directly to the species and the stress.

I do believe stress is the #1 factor as well..overhandling, poor husbantry..ect...

U cant mimic the wild.. and I agree w/ JS about BPs not eating f/t...they are picky and more susteptable to stress, BUT if NOT stressed will eat f/t everytime.

And if all else fails...there are plenty of other species that will gladly eat f/t ball pythons ...ok...that was bad. Sorry...sort of.

The question was: "do snakes have feelings". I believe every living thing has feelings.

Do the mimic Human emotions? NO. That is wishful thinking on our part.

Do they feel anything? Certainly.

Just don't expect them to welcome you home from work, and offer you newspaper, and your slippers!

the poll is do snakes show emotions? I feel instinctual emotions..just as some venomious creatures are vibrant colors..they wear thier emotions on thier sleeve..stay away..they dont have to be aggressive, and instinct has taught others to stay away.
I dunno if that makes any sense..lol..im tired

but of course they show emotions..they have brains..just not human emotions
instinct emotions vs human emotions

I believe this is a thread about anthropomorphism:

Anthropomorphism can refer to the representation of the gods in human form or, more generally, to the attribution of human characteristics to animals or to inanimate objects. In both cases it can be seen as a statement of human superiority — everything else that there is must be just like us — or as an attempt to understand that to which we have no direct cognitive access, by imagining it to behave just like us. --Helen King

We, as humans, like to do this sort of thing for a variety of reasons, but the ones that get us in trouble the most today have to do with global warming, oil, and other environmental issues related to the EPA. I won't go any further with that statement because it's liable to REALLY start an argument! LOL

One thing that isn't arguable though is that the word "maybe" in the poll is mispelled.
