Whew...had a little close call here Wednesday
I just posted this on my site too so if you happen to go to both, please forgive the repetition. Some of my friends here don't go there much though...so ...anyway from here out is a paste from there.
My Dad hasn't been feeling well. He hasn't been sleeping good at night and has just been feeling dizzy and queezy...no appetite. He has a history of TIA, mild strokes, heart attacks and he has a pace maker. Wednesday, we were working on the fence. We had to rip some of it down to put in my driveway and a gate. So now the fence needs to go back up. Since Dad hasn't been feeling well, he's been mostly supervising but he's hard to hold back sometimes. Wednesday he sent me to home depot to get some fence staples. While I was checking out, my cell rang. Mom called to let me know dad was laying in the middle of the road and an ambulance was on the way. So instead of going right out of the parking lot and driving back home, I turned left and drove to the hospital and waited there. When he got there, he was ashy gray, clammy...and in and out of consciousness. I could see his EKG wasn't normal looking either. He indeed had a heart attack on my driveway. The little hospital here in Blue Ridge decided his problem was bigger than they could handle so they transfered him to a hospital in Rome. Now...Dad and I both have some serious health problems and to keep things kind of...I don't know...light? NOTHING is taboo when we are "dying". One of the friends that called to check on him happens to be both the coroner and a paramedic. I told her they were moving him to Rome for a heart cath and probably another stint and she shrieked "GREAT" She was going on duty and knew she would get to transport him. I talked her into to tying a toe tag on him in the ambulance and SHE DID IT! LOL...Dad thought it was funny and left it on. His doctor thought it was funny too and jokingly accused the coroner/paramedic of trying a bit too hard to drum up new business for the coroner end of her job. Anyway, he got a stint and he's back home and doing great. He looks and feels a LOT better now so hopefully he can get off his lazy butt and go fix the gravel at the end of my driveway tomorrow where he was thrashing around.

I'm glad he's going better. Pretty scary though. Sounds like he's got a great sense of humor just like you.

It's great that he's better, and it's even greater that you managed to have fun in such a scary situation!

I'm psychoanalyzing myself now. I think humor is something I hide behind a lot. When I have an emergency or something going on, I carry on like nothing is wrong. None of my closest friends would ever know until I decide to tell them and that's usually after it's either been resolved or it hits a point where it can't be. I was sitting here last night posting humming bird photos...and freaking out at the same time lol. Crap...I haven't even called my son yet. Guess I better do that tomorrow.

Nothing wrong with hiding behind humor, it's a fairly healthy defense mechanism compared to some.

What a scare! It may be your humor that helped him through it. I like to rely on humor even in difficult or scarry situations cause it helps the stress which can make matters worse! Glad dad is home.
