Reptiles are cold blooded, thus they need a temperature GRADIENT so they can thermoregulate.
Man handling a snake the same day it eats is the fastest way to cause regurgitation, which over time can leave to a dead snake.
Housing multiple snakes together, can and will cause cannibalism. Let alone 2 large corn snakes in what looks to be a 10 gallon?
Great quarantine habits between wc and cb too.
I sincerely believe that you should not own reptiles. You are exposed to a wealth of information, including, how reptiles should be kept CORRECTLY, and not only are you willfully ignorant to it, you like dont even care. You make excuses, and continue to do exactly whatever it is that you want to do.

Seems like he really likes his animals. Seems like he's willing to work on the things that need to be worked on. From what I can see, his snakes look decently healthy and well-fed. And he mentioned something about a pair of them producing, so from what I gather, he can't be doing EVERYTHING wrong. He's 14. He'll make mistakes. I made plenty of them at that age. And I still make some now. That's how you learn. Don't be too hard on him, or discourage him from enjoying his hobby. That'll go nowhere.
David.. you seem like a nice young man with a passion for reptiles. They're fun, beautiful, interesting and definitely cool. But be responsible. These are living creatures that, in turn for being your pets and putting up with captive life, deserve the very best care. Healthy, well-kept animals are something to show off and be proud of. Take the good advice that's been offered (and read, read read!) and apply it to your husbandry. If do you your best, people will be nicer and view you as a more responsible keeper. Your animals will be healthier and happier.. and you WILL advance in this hobby. Good luck. You have some pretty reptiles.

I dont care if you think its rude. I am sorry that some people have the need to say things that you dont want to hear. I am not here to say "nice snake" or "nice vid" if it lets you go on living in your nice little delusional bubble. This delusional bubble where you know everything, are always right, yadda yadda yadda.
My comments made no reference to your age, because I know alot of people your age, that have leaps and bounds more common sense and knowledge then you. That is an excuse YOU are making about yourself, and its bull.
YOU are the one saying you are getting called out because you are young. The reality of the matter is that you are getting called out because you have such BLATENT disregard for anything anyone says to you. Talk about disrespectful.
In nature, you will find a variety of temperatures in a single given area. An animals ability to move around this area, to THERMOREGULATE their body temperature based on an animals needs, is one of the most BASIC reptile husbandy requirements. One that I am sure a 5 year old could understand, so why you cant, is obviously not a fault with your age.
Keeping an animal in a cage, and then DENYING it the ability to thermoregulate [that basic need] is at the very least, inhumane.
For as much time as you spend on reptile forums, your ability to put on blinders, and ignore so much good information, astounds me. It is being selectively blind, selectively IGNORANT. Ignoring the parts that you dont want to hear, or that conflict with your own distorted views and opinions about how reptiles should be kept.
"Wah I'm an ignorant kid blah blah blah" isnt really an excuse, because in that statement, you are aknowledging that you are willfully ignorant. It doesnt excuse your behavior. It doesnt make a statement saying "I am going to/I want to change" You dont care what people have to say, unless it is "nice snake" or "nice vid" and that says way more about your personality then it does your age.
Wake up. Grow up [in referance to your infintile behavior and perspective] and stop wasting everyones time.

David,
I have given you my opinion before and I'm going to do it again:
[1] The defensive behavior displayed by some of your snakes in the vid is a result of how they are being handled. You mentioned you need to work on your handling....don't work on it....just change it. There are two reasons critters are fast. 1. They eat fast things. 2. They need to move fast to aviod the critters that eat fast things. Which one of those do you think you appear to your snakes?...........Slow down. Slow your hand movements down, way down. When I handle a skittish (and even a not so skittish) snake my hands are moving so slow you would think I was chameleon trying to hid my movements. SLOW YOUR HANDS DOWN. This will do wonders to calm your snakes. If you slow down and use calm, gentle hand movements, you will see a difference in your defensive snakes very rapidly.
[2] Never handle a snake while it is digesting. This is stressfull for snakes and can cause problems leading to death....and just because it didn't regurge doesn't mean you didn't cause it difficulty by handling while digesting.
[3] Rat snakes and some others seem to do fine with a constant temp. They will do better if they are given temp options. My take on being a keeper is to do the best setup we can provide. Your setups will directly affect the health and look of the snake. Yea, I meant 'look'. Ever notice how some peoples snakes seem to have that extra glow?....It's really very simple, how that animal is kept will allow it to be the best it can be. You can buy the best looking animals from the best breeder and if you don't provide the very best conditions, the snake may look good; but it will lack that extra glow to the trained eye.
You have a nice collection of herps and a great, understanding mother for showing interest in your passion. Tell your mom I said she's a cool chic.
Your passion for herps is awesome and you have potential to be and do whatever you want related to this field as long as you are patient and learn.
Hey man, I'm telling you this as a friend....pull the video and make a new one. Maybe make one for each of your snakes and practice slow controlled hand motions while handling....this would be a much more impressive way to show off your collection.
Good luck.

Your on the right track. Taking your time and being willing to learn....these things will make you a great keeper. Always strive for improvement....I still look for better ways to do things with herps.
Your goal now should be to get all the great critters in your collection the best they can be before you aquire more.

I totally agree with bleeding sarcasm and some others on their opinion. It may sound somewhat harsh but fact of the matter is that you yourself David are putting stuff up on a forum with serieus herpers. If you don't want comment's to "ruin" your thread than just post when you have questions of you want to show something thats worth showing. Did you really think that this vid would get you a bunch of "how awesome" responces??
I admire your enthousiasm. It's something too many people lack when starting in this hobby. It's how many animals end up ditched or dead. Why you have such enthousiasm yet won't provide the right care is beyond me...
If I remeber back to when I was your age I to wanted everything and preferably instantly. I however took my time, did my research and got what I could care for. Now to come back to your posting habits:
I actually stopped reading most of your topics as most are about you getting something, which you eventually don't get. Everytime you ask for advice on animals only to be looking at something else a week later. This is normal however posting about every thought is not. Please take the time to find the information you require here on the forum as most of it is easily found.
As for the advice to you and your animals: Please read previous comments as real good advice has been given. I hope you take it to mind...although your previous topics, (broken) promisses and posts make me believe that you probably won't.
You are quickly falling back to old habbits and I hope you can see this yourself. I am not trying to bash you or whatever you want to call it. I do want to make clear that, contrary to what you may beleive yourself, you are not amusing everyone on this forum. I may actually go as far as to say that you are actually annoying some people here with your manner of starting topics and your replys which are lacking any understanding and overflowing with excuses.
Hope you learn and it is a nice collection. Just take your time and think before you post.
