That's what I thought he was saying too. Still bad publicity, but a lot more intelligent than a lot of the garbage said about our hobby.
I would prefer a reptile-keeping advocacy group as opposed to an anti-peta group (even though there should be such a group). All we need is a bunch of money and time!

I dont like people feeding live either, let alone video taping the idiocy for young herp-enthused you-tube addicted kids to base their knowledge off. Whole site is idiocracy in my opinion.
That said... who feeds their snake a live guinea pig? Not only is it a fat-burger the things bite like vice-grips, and the claws arent fun either.

I've seen people put a mouse in with a Leopard Gecko for the gecko to eat... or fight.... The mouse was the EXACT same size as the gecko
I also see no use in feeding live rabbits or hamsters. The cost oodles of money and DAYUMN, have you ever been clawed or bitten by either of these animals?
I had a pet rabbit that I raised from just a Wee-bitty-baby bunny but if she did not want you to touch her... SHE TOLD YOU WITH HER CLAWS AND TEETH. My god, that rabbit caused me so much pain and she made it a habit that she did not want to be touched ALL the effing time. Not to mention hamsters and their bloody biting habit...

I spoke with the guy on youtube, and he said that he was not trying to stereotype us and that he is happy to see we are not all like that. He also said that videos like that on youtube make it look like that is all reptile keeping is about. I'm actually with him on that part, ban the stupid videos! I told him I would be happy to see the videos go too. I also told him that if he checked into any reputable reptile forums, he would find tons of people who felt the same way about the live feedings - that they are dangerous and cruel, and the videos should not be allowed. I am waiting on a response, but I don't think its what it was made out to be. This guy just wants the abusive and violent videos removed from youtube.

Odd way of achieving a goal... calling an entire hobby industry Hannibal Lecters.

No sound here, so I didn't watch the video and can't comment.

I think it is a terrific idea and one I've thought about for a while now, it's just like you said, money and time... two big blocks to moving forward. I envisioned a marketing campaign of television commercials and magazine ads or flyers/mass mailing with celebrity endorsements about basic reptile education. Money can be gotten through grants and donations but you have to have the time and know-how to write the proposals, file for non-profit status and, well, time to run it all.

Well, we could start compiling a list of famous/rich people who keep reptiles. Then we could ask them for support. I would start with Mikki Moore:
MySpace.com - Mikki Moore - 32 - Male - - www.myspace.com/nbamikkimoore
He even owns gators.

My sweet little bunny Emily grew into a real menace and still is. She attacks me every time I open the door of her hut to let out out into the garden to play and run....like I was her executioner of something! Maybe she is sick of being chased around by my Shih-Tzu, whose intentions may not all be squeaky clean.....he being a big boy now, and all....and oh yes, rabbits and hamsters have AWESOME long yellow teeth!
