If it makes you feel any better, my aunt used to be very involved with our local shelter, and she tried so hard to make it better for the animals, but the people who worked there just wouldn't cooperate. She even went out and bought a ton of new towels for the cats cages and the clinic, and one of the employees stole them. It was just crappy, and she had to give it up. She, like you, just couldn't stand the negativity and stress. I had started to help her out in the end, but mainly just helped foster animals and find them homes outside of the shelter placement. They didn't let us do that long though, so when she left, I left too. I saw how much it hurt her everytime she went, so I figured it was for the best and followed her lead.

Sorry you had to walk away from helping animals you love. See what I was talking about when I said I don't like people not all people just ignorant, mean, negative, and/or abusive people. Animals are much better IMO. I hope the cats get at least a better place to stay, and that you get to find peace and harmony. |

I'm sorry for seeing this thread so late.
I totally understand where you are coming from. This is why I mostly do independent work for shelters, rescues, conservation / preservation projects, etc.
Stay long enough and politics will drag you down. This way there's no commitment and I feel like I make a change wherever I go then leave to the next place without worry.
I'm sorry it turned into a bad experience. I hope things turn out better for you.
