Snakes with attitudes
I guess I'm lucky and should be content, but all my snakes are benevolent, easy keepers. In my whole life, I've only been bitten by one snake; a water snake in TX. I sometimes wish I had an ATB or something that was a challenge...just for the experience it builds. I don't know whether to look for an ATB, or a little Hog Island or something like that???

I don't want a snake to bite me. I just want one that "might" bite, that requires careful handling to avoid being bitten. I don't want a snake you can't ever hold. My friend has all "hots". Some of them are so beautiful, and really don't seem aggressive. I sometimes wonder if you "could" handle them. I know it's certainly not worth the risk. I'd hate to have snakes like that around and not be able to touch them.

Get an ATB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys by now have figured out they are my favorite. I have 4 now in my personal collections. I also have 4 more pairs that i use to breed. I bought that little baby one for my girlfriend. Its only her second snake. She gets all gangster with it. Reaching in, gettin it behind the head. Just get yourself a younger one that way if it bites it doesnt hurt. IF you can raise it to an adult than you have accomplished something great. They arent the easiest snakes to care for. They are extremely picky about their living conditions. But like i said, do a good job and its all worth it in the end. Because you will know that you have raised one of the hardest snakes to keep in captivity!!!!!

I have been stuck at by several of my baby corns and once by my hogg (I pretty much man handle her right now she she will be used to a commotion when she gets larger) it really isnt fun. I also have been bit by 3 ball pythons and 1 columbian BCI (at Petco) since they are not used to being handled. It sucks. I had one actually try to ingest my finger. It got to the second knuckle before it gave up in its attempt to swallow me whole.
You seem up for it though. I say go for it since it is really satisfying to have a snake that used to try to eat you just kind of hang out.

I know that alot of people just don't like them, but I just picked up a blood python and one of the reasons is for the challange of "taming" it. I didn't get it to have a "cool, nasty" snake; but to accomplish something and grow as a keeper. My baby rtb that I have don't impress me anymore, they rear up to strike and I just ignore them and pick them up the same I would any other snake. The blood is fearful and defensive and I know when I have brought her to the place where she can be handled I will have done something amazing like campbell said.
Personally, I am still a little uneasy with the ATBs. I had one briefly that I took in as a rescue and the striking distance is amazing! But everytime I held him without getting bit, it felt like an accomplishment.
