Cross-strain breeding

Excuse my ignorance, but can you breed a fancy Dumbo rat with a run of the mill white lab rat?

I cant imagine you wouldnt be able to but I want to make sure before I dish out $15 for a dumbo male. I figure itll make stronger healthier babies with some neat patterns. (eye candy for my snakes? lol)

Rattus norvegicus is the standard Rat that you will find from Pet Stores.. or even from Rat Fanciers. :P

There are some Rat breeders out there that also have Rattus rattus. But it is a lot less common. They look different.. Have less litters per year.. and also have a REALLY long tail in comparison to the norvegicus..

So there is some more info for your... ..

And.. I am sure that the two have been interbred.
