Since we just put a down payment on a Pair of Burms. Yes we will be keeping the rabbits for quite a long time.

Awesome! - To the future rabbits, and to the new burms! Someday I will have a burm too!

Would you be able to chase the mouse down with a small rat just as he's finishing the mouse?

It's certainly a way to get her to eat them. But not necessarily a way to get her to like them. The rabbits sound like a plan.

I would reccomend scenting the rat, just rub the rat on a live mouse, basically to get the scent of the mouse. If that works keep doing that for awhile and then stop scenting.

Personally Johnny, I wouldn't remove the hide; I think that would cause more stress already. I would definitely scent it and just keep offering it week after week (or whatever your feeding schedule is). Do the dangle dance in front of the hide, move it around a little. They will get the scent and eventually get interested/hungry. Just me. I am NO expert in anything by any means, just my opinion.

As you know, I had major issues getting little Jesse to eat (Jesse the snake heh heh). What eventually worked is to show him the rat and let him smell it, then leave it lying on a paper plate right next to him. Cover the cage with a towel. Within 20 minutes, the rat is gone. Though half the time he eats it butt end first. It took me a year and a half to figure out this trick but it works like a charm.
