Hooking a Frog
What do you do the first day kids go back to school and you are up at 6:00am??? Go herping of course! After seeing the school bus off, I jumped in the car and headed over to the local walking park which surrounds a lake and dam. No snakes, but near the end of the walk, I finally found one of the "invisible" bull frogs that we hear everytime we are there.
Here is the setting and I swear this wasn't staged: The big guy was sitting in front of an empty can of Bud Light. ** Bud - Wise - Er ** Don't know where Wise and Er were at.
so, why not try to hook a frog? Here is the approach:
I snuck it under him and when I pulled up I got this shot!

lol that is a great shot!
I play "Dodge a frog" Field herping when I go road cruising, the road is literally littered with them sometimes, so you try to avoid making frog fritters, but it is sometimes impossible. :( I think they try to commit suicide, really, just by throwing themselves under my tires.

Where I used to live a year or so ago, there was a road that went through a swampy area, you had to travel that to get to town. Everytime it rained in the spring and you drove it at night, you hit 10s of frogs, no matter how hard you tried, they would seem to run right for the tires!

my neighborhood is definately a broklyn neighborhood. im not too far from the water which seperates brooklyn from staten island, but its definately NOT country. anyhow last year when it rained really heavy in the spring a neighbor came to me carrying 2 smaller red eared sliders in his flower pot. he told me that he thought my guys escaped my back yard. in the warmer months i used to let them hang out in a pond in my back yard. anyhow my turtles werent out in the pond yet because it was still too chilly for me to let them out there. these 2 turtles just appeared out of nowhere. we still have no idea where they came from.
