bearded dragon prolapse

i'm fairly certain that our 2 year old bearded dragon has an intestinal prolapse.. i've called our vet and he is out of town until monday and there are no other vets that see lizards in our town, or even remotely close. any suggestions on what i can do for him now?? i've researched this quite a bit and it looks serious.
i've currently got him soaking in sugar water but it's still looking the same. he's been soaking for 1/2 hour.

Continue soaking till he gets to a vet. I don't know your first aid capabilities so it would be irresponsible for me to tell you how to put things back and stitch up the cloaca for a few days. It's a fairly easy fix if nothing has gone necrotic but for most, a vet is likely going to be a must.

Meanwhile, you can take him out of the sugar water a few times a day and apply preparation H. Sometimes the soaking and/or the ointment will suck it all back up inside and no vet or stitches either one are required. It's actually OK to try this for a couple of days anyway so your lag time between getting to a vet isn't really a big deal so long as you are keeping him soaking the entire time.

One other thing, Wad up some paper towels for him to hang on to. This will calm him down a bit if he doesn't like sitting in water. The paper towels absorb sugar water and stay moist so even if he lifts his butt out of the water, it's still laying on moist sugar water soaked paper towels.

OH and major props for doing your research and doing the sugar soak. It really does work. I've done it ...I have no idea how many times over the years and never had one go necrotic on me...or die.

i've been researching how to put it back in. i'll be honest, i have no problem trying it, i just couldn't find the info on how to do it. the poor guy- i feel horrible that i can't get him in sooner. thanks for the rolled up paper towel info!
if you'd like to give me the 'how to' i'll see if i'm comfortable with it.
