Nose and alittle head rub, help me!!!!!
Well iv'e never had a snake do this before so i really dont know what to do, well alittle but not alot and need some more information from you guys. Well anyways my normal female burmese has seemed to rub her nose quiet a bit which i would say was a while back and some of her head which was not to long ago. Well at the time she had a screen top by itself and well rubbed her nose on it so i covered it up on the inside with some plexiglass so she couldnt get to it, well she didnt for a while until all of a sudden i woke up and went to check on her and her head was between the plexiglass and the screen and i was like wtf. well she had rubbed her head alittle and her nose still isnt better. her nose is like got meat off of it it looks like, but it seems like its getting better but very slowely. how long do these things take to heal and what can i do to make the process quicker. also i have gotton rid of the screen top i only kept it for so long because i was trying to find some plexiglass to use and finally found some to fit securely into the top and the other plexiglass was just leftover and wasnt very secure in there which it was two peices and i only used the screen to hold the plexiglass into place from falling so she couldnt get out, so thats apperantly how she got to the screen again.

Also a soak in some diluted betadine may help. If too much area is exposed or it becomes infected you'll need to take her into the vet. I had a boa with a bad nose rub that I didn't notice right away and he ended up with an infected tooth that required surgery and antibiotic shots. Good luck!

Usually it is a sign of too small or an improperly set up cage. My retic started doing this as she got larger, so for a temporary fix I removed her large water bin until her new cage is complete.
We use zoo med repti wound aid on all of our animals cuts and scrapes.

Even a very large enclosure can be too small if it's not set up in a way in which the snake is inclined to actually use the whole cage. If the screen is a top on a fish tank or even a reptile tank with screen top...still a bad design for a snake cage...rubbing is hard to stop in these type cages. If you have a nice front opening cage with port holes covered with screen, all you have to do is move a log over a bit and cover the screened hole with a silk plant or two....Hey...that's the project for this month. All you people keeping snakes in fish tanks...by October 1, those snakes need to be in better caging. Any noncompliance will get you a "kick me" icon from the VPlaza thing. I'm buying
