It really tees me off too that some people can only afford to buy groceries at Walmart and drive a honda. Oh, wait, that's me!
C'mon, dude. Owning reptiles is not just for the independently wealthy! Some of us do not use the fanciest state-of-the-art equipment for our snakes OR ourselves. And we manage fine.

I've also used $30 thermostats for years and years.. never had a problem. I've used the expensive ones more recently, never had a problem with those either. But I've heard of just as many $100+ models going out or malfunctioning. Gotta be careful and monitor the temperatures all the time, no matter what you use.

Dude, information about good equipment is always a good read. But seriously, you may want to watch the judgmental tone--it will put people on the defensive. I'm trying to be nice here. This was not what I was originally going to say.

I also use the cheaper stuff, no problems here either. If you use good guages and pay attention you won't have a problem.

Grow up dude! It makes you upset because of someone using these items??? You know what --- even the best thermos or other equipment is going to wear out. You might have a beef over something that happened to you, but to go off like that and the language you use basically destroys any respect I would have for your opinion in the matter. Amazing that you felt you had to apologize for the "vent" before you hit the submit button. If you have something to apologize for use the backspace button and don't even say it to begin with.
BTW, I use two of these now, one on a 4x2x2 and one on a three bin rack system. I also use two rheostats that I made myself from parts that have come out to about 8 bucks apiece. Got the plans from the DIY of a cornsnake forum that I belong to. Never had a problem with any of them.
