Need some advise on homemade tank
Hi guys...I don't really post very often, but I am on the site daily reading and learning, and you guys have been very helpful...I've learned a lot!! Anyways we are building a tank for our big girl. We have a gorgeous girl, I'm sure she is a common Boa, but we just rescued her. I don't think it was the worst place she could've been in, but the girl would just toss in live jumbo rats and she has quite a few scars on her head and down her body. But she's healthy and nice size and about as sweet as they come. I read a post where Brandon you are making a new enclosure, and I need to know what you are using to treat the wood on the inside, I can't seem to find the post where you guys were talking about it. So any suggestions from you Brandon or anyone else who knows we would so appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help :-)

polyurethane works great for that, as well as covering the inside with shower board, which is basically a really flimzy plexiglass just white or blue (colors I seen Anyway) I coated mine with lenoleum Tile and Silicond around the corners, If you use melamine wood though all you need is to silicon the corners and joints

Pvc
I was at the store looking for something, and came across a sheet of PVC. I then had the idea to create a subframe inside the plywood cage, insulate it with the expanding spray foam insulation, put vents through that, and screw/silicone in the pvc, sandwiching the flexwatt between the wood and the PVC. Also coating the wood with polyurethane as well. I do not know if my writing has been an adequate description, but when I get done, I will post pics.
I am in a similar situation with a rescued snake. I rescued a female RTB, and need to make her a larger enclosure ASAP. I was planning on getting a smaller one, but decided on the bigger one because she was great to handle, and it was more convenient for the rescue center.
Good luck

I'd stick with what Owen said. I perfer poly and silcone caulk. I don't care for melamine because if it gets a deep scratch, the wood isn't protected from water. Poly soaks into the wood.

Attach pond liner to the inside.
