Owen's Herp Room Project
Well My parents told me that over the Holidays I get to turn our Nasty ol' workroom/storageroom into a Herp Room, We will be putting a really strong propper electrical system in it with 4 Plug outlets in it. I will be coating the walls with showerboard so I can mist the whole room if I want, and it will be easy to clean and will reflect light, There will be a 48 inch UV light on the ceiling, anyways, here are some pics
I was wondering what do you guys recommend to make this really functional?
heres the measurements, It is about 10 feet wide by 8 feet long and 7 feet tall
I hung a thermometer from the ceiling and the room temp of it is 68 degrees
on with the pics
enjoy, and thnx for the help

I'd just clean it up as best as you can and get a space heater. Perhaps a couple room humidifiers and call it good.
.
That's cool that your parents are letting you do that. The closest I got to having snakes as a kid was just finding them in the backyard and watching my mom loose her mind.

snakes
I had to get my own apartment before I could keep a snake. My mom is TERRIFIED of them. If she sees one she runs screaming from it. Quite bizaar, but funny to watch, except for the fact that it is a foolish and irrational fear, but she is my mom.:dontknow:

lol yah, all the craps hitting the garbage or the other room, I just want to get a head start on the design so i can get right to it when I have it cleaned up, IM figuring I can fit 2 stacks possibly 3 stacks of 4X2X2's with 3 cages in each stack, or I can go 3 stacks of 6 4X2X1's with a 50 draw racking system, using rubbermaid shoeboxes and one of those metal racks in the middle of the room to house all the 10gals and other goodies

Good luck Owen. I am sorry I am no help but 10' x 8' x 7' sounds like a cage for 1 reptile. I am sure dank, gus, and many others will be able to help you, so I will just wish you good luck and demand pictures when it is finished.

THNX, i will be putting up a wall near the furnace So it will be about 7.5 feet That way I can fit boa cages and my 2 ball python cages side by side, I will also put a door up, If possible, I want to make this room SO TIGHT, that if I wanted I could let a baby cornsnake free roam and not worry about escape lol

That is so cool!! I have one of the extra bedroom in my house, that I use for the snake room. I just finished painting it and reorganized all my racks. I will take some pictures tonight and post them for you so you can get an idea. I have the following in the room.
2 wooden racks that hold 11 rubermaid blanket box.
1 10 level Animal Plastic that I have 10 Iris boot boxes
1 30 shoe box rack from Animal Plastic.
2 4 level stacked on top of each other of Reptile Basic 32QT Iris containers
1 7 Level CB-70 from Repti Racks
1 4 Level Sterlite 1870, similar to the CB-70 containers, from Animal Plastics.
Now for my opinion. If I had to do it over again I would buy all Animal Plastic Racks. To me they are built the best. Reptile Basic racks I like also. Repti Racks I really do not care for the containers do not slide easily at all, the casters they sent to be assembled, were a pain in the #$!#$!#$!#$!#$! to put on. I have had to grind down the bottoms to make them slide easy. The wooden ones my son built for me so they do have some sentimental value!!!! I do plan to get More Animal Plastic to replace the other ones.
You will see them in the pictures when I take them tonight.
Good Luck!!!!!!
