I've come to the conclusion that belly heat, while it DOES help with digestion isn't natural. How do they do it in the wild? Is there a heat source underground that they can access after they eat? At the risk of sounding hypocritical, I DO use UTHs with a few of my snakes, ONLY reason being the type of caging I use for those particular ones isn't conducive to lamps. Make your choice, UTHs aren't BAD if used properly (IMHO), just not ideal (also, IMHO).

That's a big cage you have, but I would question whether it's big ENOUGH for an adult burm...
No, I don't understand what you are getting at.

You should question things like that, the bigger the cage you can get, the better when talking about burms, retics, etc.
Good idea.
My biggest is a 7' coastal carpet python, hardly a monster.

i c. but if a 6ft3ft18in high cage is big enough for a full grown retic which really gets me why shouldnt a 8ft30in2 ft or so burms cage be big enough for a full grown burms. rmeber retics get bigger than burms.

it is really just a matter of opinion on what heat source or cage size to use for any reptile.
