tried aspen and i like cypress much better.
although aspen is nice for rtbs.
oh and aspen and misting system will not go well together aspen can mold easily.
if brett sees this he can say the pros and cons of aspen and cypress
for my burm mulch works better. and is what most zoos use.

because sometimes it carries bugs in it. i put some in my enclosure one time and looked inside and seen little flyes flying around so i cleaned the whole enclosure and threw the whole bag away and went and bought some aspen beddng .

well if you feel the need bake the mulch before hand, although any bug that might be in there wont be harmful to your snake. and wont survive much more than a day in the cage. i guess it depends on where you live to. as to what bugs might be in there

i just never wanted to take any chances, but ill see about using cypress mulch again after i bake it

yea i know but it never was a catch to my eye either, only if there were trees and stuff in there it was because of the green showing up if you get what i mean .

I've tried baking and freezing, and IMO freezing works better, if only because of the risk (burned up some substrate and a pan or two...). Maybe I did it wrong, though. Freezing, especially during the winter here, works quite well. Just sit your substrate outside overnight.
