Wouldn't it even be better just to go ahead and put some props under the shelve just in case so your snake doesnt get hurt or anything. It could happen one day that the shelve gets weak and falls, never know, but I do think it would be alot better with some props under it for caution, just to make sure that your burmese doesnt get hurt.

I'm not worried about it,It's plenty strong.I like it this way because i can easily move the shelf up and down in no time,So i can mess with basking surface temps easily. Thanks for the concern though.

Jason.

Looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing the finished product with the new inhabitant.

My thoughts on the door are simply that if it ever falls closed, your burm get a crushed head or broken back.

I like the hot box design.

I started doing some dry runs last night and tonight, going well so far.I was not going to use any venting as there is plenty with the air gaps around the door and a few other"oops spots" i have, but i am getting less of a temp gradiant than i want...i may add a small vent on the cool side.

Right now unregulated with two 100W night spot infrared bulbs i am getting 88 at the warm end on the shelf,83 at the cool on the shelf, and 81 on the cool end under the shelf.

I'm thinking with a small vent on the cool side, and 3-75W bulbs instead of 2-100W bulbs i may have a better result.I am getting a good surface temp though, about 120.

Your temps sound great I am not sure I would change anything, but more bulbs will give a better over all surface temp.

It looks awesome.

Wow...it looks very nice. You did a great job on that one. I think those temps sound pretty good too.

I was just wondering...did you happen seal the floor of the cage with a varnish or anything?
