Dank, I know the AP plastics are incredibly thick. Do you think it would work with Bush?

FYI on the UTH, the manufacturer says that these are "for use on standard glass aquariums only: no acrylic, no metal, no wood, no plastic, no foam, no fiberglass, no stone cages" They have to have plenty of circulation underneath so they don't burn your furninture. The manuf. actually recomends side mounting it. For those of you lucky enough to have your house thermostat at a decent temp, a UTH is probably enough. At my place (where it's like a freekin' ice box) I have to use a che also. I've got them both on a thermostat and it works great. To paraphrase: Useing multiple UTH's under one tank or a larger size uth on a smaller tank can cause stress cracks. Kind of long winded, I know, but I have one of these and they're very specific about installation. Hope it helps.

I accidentally posted this in the linked thread also. oops.

UTH won't warp your plastic cages as long as you regulate the temp properly. I've always used them on everything and have never warped a cage yet.

It definitelty depends on what type of UTH you are using...

The Zoo Med, and any of the others that stick on, IMO are not worth wasting your money on...they heat unevenly, even when connected to the same thermostat...cannot be safely removed...and are just a pain in general

I use Ultratherm mats, you can get these from the Bean Farm, or Reptile basics...these mats are great, and far superior, IMO, to any other UTH out there...

I attach them to the bottom of my plastic cages with aluminum foil tape, which holds great, and if I need to reposition the mat, it is easy to remove as the mat itself is not sticky...

I have 23X11" mats on all my 4' cages, controlled by one Ranco double thermostat, and they work fine, even with the room at 73F or so...

The only thing I have noticed, is that the temps on the cool side will drop off drastically if the humidity gets too low...which is a big problem in this dry area...so I've just started misting the cages liberally every day, in the morning...this way the temps stay around 80F on the cool side...

I also insulate all my cages with Reflectix foil insulation...which I'm sure helps the mats work better...and lowers my electric bill...

Hope that helps...

I only use them with a thermostat(Ranko).........IMO they aren't safe enough for use without........I just purchased 2 racks of Boaphile cages so I will be going to flexwatt though
