Ok i've have Sanchez my bp for a little less than a year and i initially had him in a 10g when he was about 10" and now i have him in a 20g but he's grown over two feet in less than a year...should i put him in a 40g now or 55g? or keep him in the 20g for a little longer...thanks in advance.

There are several ways to look at it. One says your snake should be shorter than the diagonal of the cage, another says snake should be shorter than one long and one short side. You have to make that determination. There is nothing wrong with buying a huge (aka one that would suffice with proper hides etc for an adult BP) cage, but you must fill it with stuff to hide in. Make sense?

I work the graveyard on occasion, tonight being one of them. It's really not that late though, just after 2am.

I still am having a hard time building a cage that is too big. Can someone please help me out? I keep pushing the bar and my snakes keep on out growing them :cursing:

It is my understanding that ball pythons can live their adult years very comfortably in a 40-gallon because they only grow to about 4 feet, and the 40 gallon is about 3 feet long. However, I don't see any harm in giving them a roomier enclosure if you can.
