RE: newbie help???

Hi Shellief. I had a box turtle when I was about 9 years old, but I forget the requirements for keeping one.
Can you take care of a box turtle with your disability? Are financially secure enough to be able to provide for a Box turtle? Vet trips can be expensive, not to mention food, an enclosure, etc.

RE: newbie help???

Hey Shellief, I wouldn't recommend a Beardie if you are on a budget...The crickets and the sheer amount of food they eat can get rather expensive. They also need large enclosures which take up a lot of space and are expensive. If you are looking for a low maintenance reptile I would go for corn snakes because they take a mouse once a week and that usually averages about 70 cents- a dollar. Plus they are a little less mobile than beardies so they are more apt to just hang out with you. Young beardies tend to jet across the room to see something and they are QUICK.

Did I mention how gorgeous corn snakes are? Because really, they are.

If you really do want a Beardie tho, PM me and I will help you find one in your area and help you figure out what you need for him. Good luck!
