got to start somewhere
I've owned an odd mix of animals through the years. My reptile experience ranges from catching garter snakes as a kid to fetching a friend's pet gator out from under the dresser and I've taken care of many reptiles. I've been trying to find a perfect pet snake for the last year that I can afford with no luck. I'm in minnesota and only colubrids and sometimes balls are cheaper, but I've been wanting a boa. Actually I always try to adopt my pets instead of purchasing. I'm not sure what else to say about myself at this time.

Corns and Ball Pythons are great snakes to start with. That is what I have and both are thriving and doing well. The Boa's are awesome and I think I want to add one to my collection too but have to first get some bigger enclosures for my two resident reptiles before I get any more. I hope you find your reptile friend soon and welcome to the site! It is a great place for questions and fun.

If you can get your hands on a boa than more power to you. They are great. Just make sure you read as many care sheets as you can find. So that when the times comes, you provide the best possible care for the animal, and you will be rewarded with a pet that will be with you for many years to come.

Welcome! Adopting is awesome and good luck if you do! If you go with a colubrid I'd say you will have a great snake too though as they are what I have so I am gonna have to put in a good word for them!!  They rock!!

Welcome! Hope you find a nice boa to adobt! Sounds like a great idea since there is so many people out there that buy it when it's little and don't know how big it will really get until it's to late and they need to find a home for it. I would look on Craigs List or come classifieds.
